Total Iodine

This is the combined amount of iodine from both elemental iodine (I₂) and potassium iodide (KI) in a dose. This total represents the actual iodine intake.

Elemental Iodine (I₂)

Molecular iodine, the active form that our bodies can use directly. Lugol's solution typically contains about 5% elemental iodine by weight.

Potassium Iodide (KI)

The stabilized form of iodine in Lugol's solution. KI makes up about 10% of the solution by weight and provides additional iodine that our bodies convert as needed.
